We provide support to individuals to enable them to live independently in their own home.
Supported Independent Living (SIL)
We support individuals to live independently in their own home and to contribute to and be connected with the community in which they live. This includes Supported Independent Living (SIL) to 17 residents across 6 houses which sit beside our Day Service centre on our main site. Experienced and qualified staff provide 24 hour direct care with sleepover support.
Outreach Support
Individual support is provided to clients which reflects and supports the person in achieving their goals and dreams and assists them in meeting their support requirements. All individual support plans are developed in accordance with the following principles:
Engagement and relationship building
Support coordination
Skill development/maintenance
Personal care
Reduce isolation
Specialist Disability Accommodation
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is a type of housing funded under the National Disability Insurance Scheme for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. SDA homes are purpose-built or modified to include features like improved accessibility, safety design, and assistive technology, enabling residents to live more independently while receiving daily supports. It focuses on the physical home environment, while personal care and support services are funded separately, giving participants greater choice and control over how and where they live.
Across the Mirridong properties we have the following SDA design categories for:
Improved Liveability – Housing designed for people with sensory, intellectual, or cognitive disability, with features that enhance safety, wayfinding, and ease of use.
Fully Accessible – Homes with step-free access and mobility-friendly design for people with significant physical disability.
High Physical Support – Advanced accessibility plus structural provisions for equipment (e.g. hoists) and support for complex physical needs.
Robust – Dwellings built with durable materials and enhanced safety features for people who may display behaviours that could put themselves or others at risk.
